Symptoms of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) It may take several weeks to months for cats to show symptoms of FIP. The initial signs of FIP can range from depression to changes in appetite to fever.

The symptom checklist 

Wet FIP (Effusive)
Most Common

- Visible aSwollen Belly.
- Scrotal swelling.
- Difficulty Breathing.
- Persistent Fever.
- Lethargy & Poor Appetite.

Dry FIP (Non-Effusive)
Hard to Diagnose

- Lethargy.
- Fever.
- Chronic Weight Loss.
- Jaundice.
- Cloudy Eyes.
- Organ Issues.

Ocular FIP(Eye Form)

- Color Change: Iris changes color (often to a muddy brown).
- Cloudiness: Looks like there is "fog" or sediment inside the eye.
- Pupil Irregularity: Pupils are different sizes (Anisocoria).
- Vision Loss: Bumping into objects.

Neuro FIP(Brain/Nerve Form)

- Ataxia: Wobbly walking, loss of balance, walking like "drunk".
- Seizures: Sudden convulsions or tremors.
- Head Tilt: Holding head to one side constantly.
- Paralysis: Dragging hind legs or inability to jump.

Neurological or ocular symptoms are commonly associated with advanced FIP progression.In these cases, time matters. Delaying treatment decisions may significantly impact outcomes.

Ocular FIP
(Eye Form)

- Iris color changes.
- Cloudiness.
- Corneal thickening.
- Vision Loss.

Neuro FIP
(Brain/Nerve Form)

- Loss of balance.
- Seizures.
- Head Tilt.
- Paralysis.
